Tribeca Film Festival will screen two films by JSFS alumna

 

Asia, by Ruthy Pribar and Honeymood, by Talya Lavie are both taking part in the Tribeca Film Festival 2020.

Asia, directed and written by Ruthy Pribar and produced by Yoah Roeh, Aurit Zamir will have its world premiere at Tribeca, when the festival takes place. Both director Pribar and producers Roeh and Zamir are graduates of the JSFS.

Synopsis: Asia is not your average mom. She's free-spirited, open-minded and non-judgmental; but all that is put to the test when her teenage daughter - who happens to be differently abled - announces that she's ready to lose her virginity. With Alena Yiv, Shira Haas, Tamir Mulla, Gera Sandler. In Hebrew, Russian with English subtitles.

Tribeca veteran, Talya Lavie, is also a graduate of the JSFS. Her debut feature Zero Motivation won an award at Tribeca and she is now back with Honeymood , a romantic comedy, produced by fellow alumni Mansuri and Dowek.

Synopsis:  Following a fight in their honeymoon suite on the night of their wedding, a bride and groom embark on a surreal urban odyssey through the streets of Jerusalem in Tribeca award winner Talya Lavie's dazzling romantic comedy.

A third film with JSFS roots is Ainu Mosir, directed and written by Takeshi Fukunaga and produced by Eric Nyari. Takeshi is a graduate of the JSFL.

Synopsis:  In an indigenous village in Northern Japan, sensitive 14-year-old Kanto takes his first tentative steps towards manhood as a debate brews among the community about a controversial ceremony. With Kanto Shimokura, Debo Akibe, Emi Shimokura, Toko Miura, Lily Franky. In Japanese with English subtitles.
